Sun Tran Bus Storage, Maintenance, and Fueling Facility,
City of Tucson
The multi-phase Sun Tran project includes the development of
a comprehensive master plan, design, and construction of a facility
to house operations for a 250-bus fleet. The project encompasses
129,000 sf of enclosed space and 65,000 sf of additional covered
space on a 21-acre site. The master plan was developed using an
intensive design charrette approach. Project goals include minimizing
adverse impacts on surrounding properties, implementing energy
and cost efficiencies in site building design, fostering a positive
client image, and improving the streetscape. The project is being
designed for LEED Silver Certification and GLHN is exploring numerous
sustainable design solutions to achieve innovative design credit,
including the use of reclaimed water for initial bus wash cycles.
Total construction cost for all phases will be over $28 million.
GLHN has also designed vehicle maintenance and fueling facilities
for City of Mesa, City of Phoenix, City of Peoria, Sky Harbor International
Airport, Tucson Unified School District, City of Sierra Vista, and
University of Arizona. |
