Established in 1963, GLHN Architects and Engineers, Inc. is an employee-owned firm in Tucson offering integrated, multi-discipline services in architecture and mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering. GLHN has a staff of 70 full-time employees, including LEED Accredited Professionals in all four disciplines, Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD), Certified Energy Managers (CEM), Energy Reduction Analysts, Certified Commissioning Agents, Fire Protections Engineers, personnel Certified in Plumbing Engineering (CIPE), and Lighting Certified (LC) staff.
GLHN works primarily in the governmental and institutional sectors and is committed to establishing long-term client relationships. The firm has worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs continuously since 1975 and has completed projects at over 100 VA Medical Centers nationwide. GLHN has also worked at over two dozen college and university campuses and has established itself as a leader in developing innovative campus carbon reduction programs. GLHN is actively developing specializations in the design of alternative fuel facilities and campus wind and solar energy.
In 2008, GLHN created GLHNgreen, a proactive initiative to support and promote all aspects of the firm's environmentally-responsible office efforts and sustainable design practices. GLHNgreen focuses on five areas: sustainable/LEED design, professional practices (client-oriented efforts), office practices, reduction of the firm's carbon footprint, and staff education. GLHN has registered its own building for LEED-EB Certification with a goal of obtaining LEED-EB Silver in 2010.
GLHN believes Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the future of the design and construction industry and has transitioned from 2D CAD production to fully-integrated 3D design. |
