School of Pharmacy
University of Arizona
GLHN is working to both master plan and sequentially renovate the
University of Arizona School of Pharmacy. The school, originally
completed in 1982, is severely overcrowded, and in need of both
new systems and a safe, flexible, and responsive research environment
to support its twin missions of research and education. GLHN is
analyzing the School's current needs and activities, as well as
the future direction of the its research for the next twenty years.
Physical expansion is anticipated at five and ten years with two
building additions that form a new courtyard for the School. The
existing twin building wings will be renovated into more secure
and private research areas and the two new wings will contain more
public open programs. One of the new wings in the addition will
include clinical research spaces with intensive public contact,
the other will contain administrative and conference spaces. The
School currently has an extensive historic collection of industry
artifacts that will be displayed and accessible in the two more
public wings. As part of the renovations, extensive daylighting,
energy efficient systems, and new security measures are planned
to be integrated, with flexibility and safety the primary goals.
